It's getting closer to the weekend, and I'm excited. Since taking up my daily run again I'm feeling more energised and realising just how much I've missed being active. Getting the skateboard, the blades, and getting out there is really really thrilling!

I've not written any this week. Or drawn. I have some vague ideas for some sketches, but I've decided I need some outright inspiration. Some images of craggy cliff faces in Ireland, that tempestuous coastline, misty moors, that's what I want. So instead I'm going to head to the shore of a local beach and plant my ass on the sand and find something to fashion from there. And collect shells. I used to have a bag of them, and can't quite remember their fate.

And I want to go dancing .. With work being how it is, my Friday nights are golden. I go out, spin around under the big sky and have a ball with my companions. It's what I live for, during the 9-5. My nights of wildness, and freedom.

I thought I'd add some images to a post that I love. I still dream of maybe one day chasing carnivals around the world with a camera. We'll see.

Which reminds me. I haven't yet bought those Carnivale dvds. If anyone reads this, does anyone recommend that show? I've seen snippets of it on youtube which look alright. I can't imagine that it would suck. Dustbowl 1930's supernatural vaudeville in the middle of nowhere. Atmosphere + atmosphere alright.

And this is an image from one of my favourite moments in Amelie. I thought it was so strange, erotic and lovely.

I'm reading American Gods again. I got roughly half way through it a few years ago but then had to return it to the library and I just didn't get around to borrowing it again. So I bought it last night. Shadow is writte

n so well. He's not a good guy, the reader can't deceive themselves, he was in jail after all, for assault, but he's someone you sympathise with because he did it out of his big love for someone and you can see how he's just one of those inte
nsely loyal people. Definitely stupid over his wife, who ended up cheating on him anyway, but someone who reconciles with himself, the past, who mourns his mistake and the life he had. When he lived it and it was good. I'd like to sketch him, because his image changes in my mind. When I first read it I pictured him as an African American, or at least someone who had the blood in him more than another, but after catching a sentence last night, where Wilson a jail guard, asks if he's gypsy, he's transformed in my mind. With that tangle of dark hair, I picture him the same size, large and strong, but in an elegantly lean way, with whiskers and deep set eyes. Romanian with a mix of something else, something Old.
Anyway, if I draw him, I'll scan and add a picture here. I think he's a wonderful character, captivating, I've enjoyed walking in his shoes again.
And the cover of the book reminds me of what I'm looking for. Talisman. Fetish. Golden/brass/silver feather pendants. Shaman-style jewellery. Something of that nature. Ebay here I come, or etsy. And I'm looking for sew-on patches to decorate a pair of jeans with. I'm feeling creative. I can see this blog will become a to do list as much as a place for trains of thought!
And this, this is my natural hair colour, which I haven't seen in years. Well. Ok. As close as I'm going to get to it. And I'm keepin' it! After having been red, blonde, dark brown, purple and even black for the past seven years or so, it's time to give it a rest. So yes, this is a marking day in my hair history. Getting back to my roots, per se :P Only thing I plan on doing to funk it up, is add a few lilac streaks to the fringe area when it grows a little. Got the paintbox at home waiting to mix. I like a bit of fun with hair! What can I say. Anyway, over and out. Back to work.

Back to blogging!

I'm going to buy a skateboard this weekend. Finally!
A pair of rollerblades.
And I'm spending all day out in the fresh air, under the sun, having a ball falling and flying.
Draw some nouveau/deco sketches to pin to my wall.
Buy those darling royal purple satin shoes.

And hopefully, see the Killers.
